Paul McGurk, Founder and Director

Paul joined the army after college and spent six years repairing weapons and training soldiers in fitness. He left to go to university and ended up in the corporate sector – which he admits was a poor fit!

He discovered a passion for low energy building while renovating a damp Manchester terrace with mostly sheep's wool for insulation. Eventually he found work as an MVHR Designer at the Green Building Store (now 21 Degrees), where he worked for four years designing and later, installing MVHR systems.

In 2024 he left to start Heat Recovery UK.


Ross Kendall, MVHR Installer

Ross brings a wealth of experience across several engineering disciplines, from mechanical engineering to CAD design, web and IT.

After renovating several houses, Ross' interests in housing, technology and engineering led to him self-building an eco home to Passivhaus standards, achieving airtightness of 0.24 ACH (or for Passivhaus nerds, air permeability of 0.3 m3/h/m2).

He worked at Enhabit as a building services consultant and later Green Building Store (21 Degrees) as an MVHR Designer.
