Mechanical Ventilation Heat Recovery

Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery is a way of providing constant background ventilation in your home (meeting part F Building Regulations), without losing significant heat energy.

Stale, warm air is extracted from kitchens, bathrooms, utilities and WCs and sent to the heat exchanger, at the same time as fresh air from outside. The heat is exchanged and fresh air (now warmed) is sent to your habitable spaces, while the stale air (now cooled) is sent outside.

There is now no need for trickle vents, or even the need to open your windows (though you can if you like). This means you save a fairly significant amount of heat energy over the year, and you have a permanently fresh indoor environment which is optimal for the occupants and the fabric of the building itself.
